Meldrum Academy commemorates VE DAY 80

At Meldrum Academy pupils will be undertaking lessons to raise awareness of VE Day and to allow them to reflect on why it is important to commemorate such historical events. A key part of this will be encouraging pupils to speak at home to gather and share family stories of the War and VE Day, and staff, parents and carers will also have the opportunity to do the same. Pupils will also be making flags and decorations for a VE Day Commmunity Cafe which will be held in the School Library on the afternoon of the 8th May. This will have a street party theme and member of the school and wider community, including the local Legion, are invited to come along. The school’s History club is also preparing a presentation to be used at tutor time on the 8th May, as well as at the Community Cafe, as a focal point of our commemorations.
