Event Description – VE Day 80 Commemoration Date: Thursday, 8th May 2025 Organiser: Riccall Parish Council Riccall Parish Council will be hosting a community event to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day. The event will bring together residents in a spirit of remembrance, reflection, and celebration. Planned Schedule: 9:00pm – Proclamation A formal reading of the VE Day 80 Proclamation by a representative of the Parish Council. 9:30pm – Choir Performance A local choir will perform a commemorative piece in honour of the occasion. 9:30pm – Beacon Lighting The beacon will be lit in unison with others across the country to symbolise peace and remembrance. Additional Community Involvement: Refreshments: The local Women’s Institute (WI) will be baking and serving a commemorative VE Day cake. Food Options: Our village pub will be offering takeaway fish and chips for attendees. Please Note: Final preparations and confirmed timings will be discussed and formally approved at the Riccall Parish Council meeting on 14th April 2025.
