Lighting a Beacon
The City of Gloucester will be lighting the Beacon on Robinswood Hill at 9.30 pm on 8th May to celebrate VE Day 80. The Mayor of Gloucester will light the beacon on the summit as the sun sets.
The Sula Lightship on the Gloucester Sharpness Canal will also be lit at 9.30pm. A choir will be performing the official hymn ‘I Vow to Thee my Country’ after the lamp is lit.
The Official Proclamation will be read on Gloucester Cross at 9.00am.
