A Journey of Discovery on the Waterways of the West Midlands
Imagine a classroom where history, science, and adventure come to life—not within four walls, but along the historic waterways of the United Kingdom. Welcome to the Floating Classroom, an innovative educational experience that allows school children to see their towns and cities from an entirely new perspective.
As they navigate the canals that once powered the Industrial Revolution, students embark on an interactive journey through time and nature. They’ll explore the region’s rich history, learn about environmental sustainability, and witness firsthand how waterways connect communities, industries, and culture.
Designed to create an unforgettable learning experience, the Floating Classroom combines STEM activities, local history, and hands-on discovery with their surroundings. This initiative encourages curiosity, strengthens connections to local heritage, and inspires the next generation to see their environment in a new and exciting way.
A unique feature of the Floating Classroom is its innovative hydraulic lifting system. This allows the classroom to elevate into a double-height position, providing students with an expanded view of their surroundings. Whether rising above the waterways for a panoramic perspective or lowering back to its original height enabling the classroom to pass smoothly under bridges, ensuring seamless navigation through the waterways. By dynamically shifting between elevations, making each lesson a transformative experience.
More than just a boat ride, this is a voyage of learning, discovery, and possibility—one that takes education out of the classroom and into the heart of our historic waterways.
