VE Day 80th Anniversary – Tree Planting & Remembrance Ceremony

Torrance Community Council warmly invites you to join us for a special event marking the 80th Anniversary of VE Day on Thursday, 8th May 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at.

Together with pupils from the school and members of the public, we’ll gather for a Tree Planting Ceremony and Service of Remembrance to honour those who served and sacrificed during World War II.

About the Tree: The tree, a Crimson Japanese Maple has been donated by the family of former Councillor, teacher resident
of atorrance, Ron McInally.

We hope that the tree will serve as a living tribute to the memory of Mr. Ron McInally and all those who sacrificed during World War II. Located within the school grounds, it will provide a shaded place for pupils to sit, reflect, and discuss history, ensuring that the lessons of the past continue to inspire future generations.

The event will include reflections from our local ministers, a moving bagpipe lament, and special attendance by the Provost of East Dunbartonshire.

We’d love to see members of the community join us in marking this important occasion.

All welcome.
