April 24th – 14.00 – 16.30 – The Last Thursday History Society will be hosting a special VE Day event, with an opportunity for residents to share and talk about any WW2 memories and artefacts. Free entry, at Stony Stratford Library
May 7th – 10.00 – 11.30 – A special Friends of Stony Stratford Library (FoSSL) coffee morning with a VE Day theme, featuring a performance by ‘Forces Sweetheart’ singer Wendy Sings. Open to all. Free entry, donations welcome. At Stony Stratford Library.
May 8th – 09.00 – National proclamation – The Town Crier will deliver a national proclamation outside St Mary & St Giles Church.
May 8th – 18.30 – 19.00 – The bells of St Mary & St Giles Church will ring out in celebration.
May 8th – 21.30 – A special reading of the National Tribute will be played as part of a programme on Stony Radio. You can listen to Stony Radio on most phones, smart speakers and many other devices. Go to stonyradio.com/howtolisten for more details.
May 8th – 21.30 – Lighting of lamps of peace – Residents of Fullers Slade, Galley Hill and Stony Stratford will be encouraged to light a candle or lamp in memory of the fallen.
With the national celebration taking place over four days, we are able to offer small grants to help fund street parties and other community gatherings in Stony Stratford, Galley Hill and Fullers Slade on Monday 5th May.
